Michelle Chang (or Mysh, for short) presents a unique body of captivating and vibrant cat-inspired art that’s been capturing hearts and acclaim since her debut  in 2002. Her previous CatmaSutra collections at Utterly Art Exhibition space where she regularly showcases her work have almost always sold out. Her work has been described by collectors and critics as “naive”. Others draw comparisons with aboriginal or byzantine mosaic art. For Mysh, her technique which she simply calls “dotting” is a painstaking style that is at once therapeutic and magical. This, coupled with her explosive colours and dream-like landscapes make her work immediately appealing and popular.

Mysh’s new collection will not only continue the adventures of Angel and Halo (the Russian Blue & Ginger Tabby duo), it will also introduce, in a bigger way, her other love, Pfeiffur, an apricot-coloured poodle (seen in Fish Food). As the title of the exhibition suggests, Purrealism is all about the state of being Content (A Late Harvest), Happy and Spontaneous (Dancing In The Moonlight). While Angel and Halo inspire Freedom (The Night Tripper), Pheiffur brings on the Smile (Pfeiffur), a simple expression. For the first time, Mysh has embellished one of her paintings (Eat. Play. Meow.) with Swarovski crystals! Through Purrealism, Mysh hopes to capture the balance between free spirit and real love…
